Kremlin Expresses Concern Over NATO’s Military Infrastructure Movement towards Russian Borders

During a briefing, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov expressed concern over NATO’s movement of military infrastructure towards the borders of Russia. This statement comes in response to reports about NATO’s plans to establish a “military Schengen” that would allow NATO forces to move freely among member countries and transport weaponry.

When asked about the potential risks of armed conflicts arising from such a decision, Peskov emphasized that NATO’s movement towards the Russian border cannot go without corresponding measures to ensure Russia’s own security. He further added that the creation of a “military Schengen” would only escalate tensions in Europe.

“NATO constantly moves its military infrastructure towards our border, while we do not move towards NATO’s infrastructure…and this naturally causes concern and necessitates measures to ensure our own security,” noted Peskov.

Previously, Lieutenant General Alexander Sollfrank, the head of the Joint Logistics Command, had mentioned NATO’s intention to establish a “military Schengen” for the swift movement of alliance troops.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Kuleba stated that he does not understand the conditions Ukraine needs to fulfill in order to join NATO.
