Armenia Implements Army Reform Inspired by Swiss Model, Explores Cooperation with EU

Armenia is undertaking a comprehensive reform of its military, drawing inspiration from international experience, including the Swiss model. This was announced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“We have implemented a mechanism of 24-day training sessions, one of the goals of which is, in a way, to move towards the Swiss model,” shared the politician.

According to Pashinyan, thanks to this mechanism, reservists, who serve as a mobilization resource, will periodically participate in training sessions and acquire the necessary military skills.

Recently, Pashinyan held a meeting with ambassadors from the European Union and EU member states. The participants discussed cooperation between the republic and the EU, as well as joint programs, particularly focusing on the reform agenda in Armenia.

On November 16, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the republic is engaged in dialogue with the European Union regarding possible supplies of non-lethal weapons.

Earlier, the Armenian Security Council expressed hopes for enhanced cooperation with the West in terms of security.
