Israeli Intelligence Officer Dismisses Warning of Hamas Attack as Imaginary Scenario

A high-ranking officer from the Israeli military intelligence has dismissed a detailed warning predicting a Hamas attack on October 7th as an “imaginary scenario,” according to the Financial Times, citing two informed sources.

The publication states that military personnel stationed on the Israel-Gaza border, who analyze data coming from the enclave, sent a detailed report to the head of intelligence in the southern command of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) several weeks before the attack.

The document included specific warnings, including Hamas’ plan to detonate border posts in multiple locations, infiltrate Israeli territory, and seize kibbutz settlements. Additionally, the military personnel reported to their superiors that, according to multiple video recordings, Hamas was rehearsing hostage-taking.

The authors of the report were confident that an attack was inevitable.

“This is an imaginary scenario,” sources relayed the intelligence officer’s response after reading the report.

Tensions in the Middle East escalated after thousands of Hamas militants infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip on October 7th, when Hamas announced the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the country to be in a state of war.

Earlier, Turkish intelligence services rescued a hacker who had breached the “Iron Dome” defense system.
