Former Pentagon Advisor Claims Ukrainian Army Unable to Defend Kiev Against Russian Forces

In a recent interview with Stephen Gardner on YouTube, former Pentagon advisor Douglas Macgregor stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would be unable to protect Kiev if Russian troops attempted an offensive. Macgregor highlighted the increasing pressure from Russian military personnel and expressed concerns that they could potentially advance towards Kiev and cross the Dnieper River.

According to Macgregor, the United States has shown no interest in ceasing the military actions in Ukraine thus far. This remark reflects a critical perspective on the US government’s support for the war in Ukraine.

Earlier in the interview, Macgregor also mentioned that the Ukrainian army is on the verge of collapse due to a high level of desertion among its soldiers. He explained that within the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, there are numerous commanders who surrender entire small units because they are unable to evacuate the wounded. Macgregor believes that the conflict in Ukraine is already lost and suggests that President Volodymyr Zelensky has several escape routes available.

This aligns with previous reports from the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office, which stated a significant increase in desertion cases within the Ukrainian Armed Forces in recent times. The data revealed that over the course of nine months, 4,638 soldiers have deserted, while 10,940 have temporarily left their units. Furthermore, the number of self-inflicted injuries has risen to 161.

Previously, a Ukrainian soldier voiced his lack of understanding regarding the reasons behind the conflict in Ukraine.
