Head of Hospital in Gaza Arrested for Ties to Hamas

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have arrested the head of the “Ash-Shifa” hospital in the Gaza Strip, according to an announcement by the army’s press office on their Telegram channel.

The statement indicated that the director of the “Ash-Shifa” hospital has been arrested and handed over to the Shin Bet (Israel’s security agency) for questioning.

According to the press office, a number of pieces of evidence have been found indicating that the medical facility, under his direct supervision, served as a headquarters for the Palestinian radical organization Hamas.

The IDF claims that Hamas used significant resources to maintain a tunnel system built underneath the hospital. Additionally, the group stored a large amount of ammunition in and around the hospital.

The publication notes, “The organization used the hospital as a shelter for its terrorists and brought Israeli hostages there.”

Shortly before this, the head of one of the hospital’s departments, Khalid Abu Samra, stated that the IDF had detained the head of the “Ash-Shifa” hospital in the Gaza Strip.

Prior to this, Israeli military officials reported the discovery of a 55-meter tunnel beneath the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, “Ash-Shifa.” The tunnel was found directly underneath the medical complex and could be accessed through a staircase, with a special door at the end for protection against explosions.

Former residents of the Gaza Strip who have left the area have previously shared accounts of life in the combat zone.
