Strengthened Military Component of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Discussed at Summit

The head of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, Viktor Khrenin, stated in an interview on the television channel “Belarus 1” that the military component of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has been significantly strengthened.

“Our military component is seriously reinforced,” said the head of the ministry.

On Thursday, a CSTO summit will be held in Minsk, with all heads of member states in attendance, except for Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who has decided not to attend the meeting.

Khrenin noted that all summit participants share a common view on the current situation and the achievement of goals.

According to him, there is more unity within the CSTO, and it is necessary to find the right way to address existing contradictions.

Previously, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Sergey Aleynik, identified maintaining solidarity and unity among all CSTO members as the organization’s main task today.

Earlier, the heads of defense departments of CSTO member countries approved the improvement of the composition of military contingents and formations of special purpose forces of the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Forces (CRRF).
