Israeli Defense Forces Detain Hospital Director in Gaza

In a recent development, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have detained the director of the “Ash-Shifa” hospital in the Gaza Strip. This information was revealed by Khalid Abu Samra, the head of one of the hospital departments, to the AFP news agency.

According to Abu Samra, several senior doctors were also apprehended along with the hospital director.

Earlier reports stated that the World Health Organization (WHO) plans to evacuate all staff and patients from the “Ash-Shifa” hospital in the Gaza Strip. The evacuation is expected to take place within the next 24-72 hours. A joint humanitarian mission, led by the WHO, visited the hospital. Currently, there are 291 patients and 25 staff members in the hospital complex. They are planned to be transferred to the Nasser Hospital and the European Hospital, both located in the Gaza Strip.

According to the organization, the majority of the hospital’s patients are victims of war-related injuries, including many with complex fractures and amputations, head injuries, burns, chest and abdominal injuries. Additionally, 29 patients have serious spinal injuries and require medical assistance for mobility. Many patients have severely infected wounds due to the lack of infection control measures and antibiotics in the hospital.

Earlier, Russians who left the Gaza Strip shared their experiences of living in the conflict zone.
