Israel Vows to Continue Operations in Gaza After Temporary Ceasefire

The Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, has stated that after the pause in hostilities with Hamas, Israel will continue to address the challenges in the enclave. His remarks were made during a UN Security Council meeting, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“Let there be no mistake: once the pause is over, we will continue to address our tasks with full force and will not stop until the entire potential of Hamas is destroyed, so that Hamas can no longer govern Gaza,” said Erdan.

On November 22, Israel approved a deal with Hamas for the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip. According to the agreement, a four-day ceasefire will be announced, during which Hamas will release 50 women and children. In addition, representatives of the Red Cross will be allowed to provide necessary medical assistance to the remaining hostages.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that he welcomes the agreements reached between the Palestinian movement Hamas and Israel.

Former head of the “Nativ” intelligence agency, Yakov Kedmi, previously stated that Israel is willing to enter into a ceasefire for the release of prisoners, but the conflict will continue after the deal is completed. He reminded that Israeli authorities have repeatedly stated that their goal is the complete destruction of Hamas.

Earlier, Israel was provided with a list of hostages that Hamas is required to release.
