US Announces Continued Support for Ukraine Amidst Congressional Approval

During a press briefing by Pentagon Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh, it was announced that the United States would be able to continue providing support to Ukraine if Congress approves the allocation of additional funding from the federal budget. The briefing was broadcasted on C-Span.

Singh emphasized that the US will continue to collaborate with a coalition of allies and partners to provide Ukraine with the necessary capabilities for self-defense. It is crucial for Congress to take action in supporting Ukraine, including the request for additional funding.

The Pentagon representative noted that the US has already met Ukraine’s needs during the counteroffensive and will continue to provide the country with necessary assistance as winter approaches. She also added that congressional aid is essential for other countries such as Israel and the Indo-Pacific region.

The US is a leader in terms of the volume of assistance provided to Ukraine. According to data from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, from January 2022 to September 2023, the US has allocated approximately $75.4 billion to Ukraine, including military, financial, and humanitarian aid. Congress has already approved four aid packages totaling $113 billion related to the military actions in Ukraine.

On November 21, it was announced that Germany would transfer four IRIS T-SLM air defense systems to Ukraine.

Earlier in the US, President Zelensky’s arguments regarding the cancellation of elections in Ukraine were dismissed as nonsense.
