US Defense Secretary Visits Ukraine to Discuss Military Support

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has arrived in Ukraine to discuss new measures of military assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) for conducting winter operations. The announcement was made by the US Department of Defense’s press office.

According to the Pentagon’s press release, Austin will discuss strategic partnership in the areas of security and support for the UAF with Kiev.

The US Defense Secretary emphasized his country’s unwavering commitment to providing Ukraine with the necessary security assistance and will also discuss the long-term vision for the UAF.

The negotiations, as stated by the press office, will focus on further strengthening the partnership between the United States and Ukraine, including providing the UAF with the necessary combat capabilities for both the upcoming winter season and the future.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon is running out of funds not only for arming Ukraine but also for replenishing its own supplies.

Earlier, the US Department of Defense declined to specify how much longer the allocated funds for Ukraine would last.
