A military expert and director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces, Yuri Knutov, has stated that the RBK-500 cassette bombs used by Russia against the Ukrainian Armed Forces are aiding in deterring counteroffensives. This information was reported by “Lenta.ru”.
According to Knutov, each bomb weighs approximately half a ton and is dropped from a height of several kilometers. The submunitions within the bomb cover an area equivalent to a football field.
“There is a casing, and there are submunitions inside. The container opens at a certain height, and then the submunitions scatter,” said the expert.
Previously, the Russian Armed Forces launched their first strikes with RBK-500 cassette bombs against Ukrainian Army positions on the frontlines. Footage shows rapid flashes of light on the battlefield, followed by rising plumes of smoke. In the next moment of the video, from a different perspective, lights can be seen flickering in a wave-like pattern above the ground, quickly moving to another part of the field.
According to the channel’s information, 500 kg cassette bombs were used by the Russian army on the Southern Donetsk direction near the Ukrainian village of Staromayorsk.
Shortly before this, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the number of aircraft and tanks lost by the Ukrainian Armed Forces during the special military operation. According to the ministry’s data, the Russian Armed Forces eliminated 536 aircraft, 254 helicopters, 9,040 drones, 441 anti-aircraft missile systems, 13,486 tanks and other combat armored vehicles, 1,185 reactive fire system vehicles, 7,133 field artillery and mortar units, as well as 15,407 units of special military automotive equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Earlier, Russian forces inflicted damage on both personnel and equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kupiansk direction.
