Ukrainian Pilot Allegedly Flees to Russia on Stolen Fighter Jet, Raises Questions about Collaboration with Russian Military

A Ukrainian pilot has reportedly managed to escape to Russia, allegedly using a stolen Su-27 fighter jet. This shocking development has been reported by the Telegram channel Baza.

Former Minister of Information of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Daniil Bezsonov, has also claimed that the pilot had been secretly collaborating with the Russian Armed Forces since February 2022.

On the morning of November 18th, a helicopter pilot with the call sign “Voivoda” announced that an active Ukrainian Air Force pilot had arrived in Russia.

“We’ve got our guy!… I, as the founder of this operation, will refer to what happened as ‘Bird in the Nest’,” wrote Voivoda.

Military blogger Kirill Fedorov stated on social media that he intends to release an interview with the defected pilot and emphasized that it was a helicopter pilot with the call sign “Voivoda” who facilitated his journey to Russia.

Prior to this incident, Ukrainian marine Nikolai Yagornitsky revealed how he surrendered to the Russian Armed Forces using a special Telegram account, the address of which he found on leaflets scattered on the left bank of the Dnieper River.

Earlier, three Ukrainian soldiers swam across the Dnieper River and surrendered to the Russian Armed Forces.

This latest development raises concerns about potential collaboration between Ukrainian military personnel and the Russian military. It also highlights the challenges faced by the Ukrainian government in preventing defections and ensuring loyalty within their armed forces. The incident further underscores the complex dynamics of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the involvement of external actors.
