Russia Deploys New Strategic Missile Complex Sarmat on Combat Duty

Russia has placed its latest strategic missile complex, known as “Sarmat,” with a heavy liquid intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), on combat duty. This information was reported by TASS, citing a source in the rocket and space industry.

According to the source, “Sarmat” was deployed on combat duty in the Uzhur division of the Strategic Missile Forces. The placement of this strategic missile complex on combat duty was carried out in parallel with flight and design tests of the product, the source stated.

On October 7, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the first serial-produced “Sarmat” missiles will be placed on combat duty in the near future.

On October 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia had practically completed work on the “Sarmat” missile complex.

Earlier, Military Watch Magazine reported that “Sarmat” has the potential to destroy an area larger than France or the American state of Texas. According to the publication, the introduction of these installations into service further increases the gap in military potential between Russia and the United States, particularly in terms of their ground-based strategic missile forces.

Previously, Putin discussed the future of the military in Russia.
