The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced that Russian air defense systems successfully shot down a Ukrainian drone over the Belgorod region. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of aircraft type was intercepted on November 17th at approximately 15:30 Moscow time.
This incident follows a similar incident reported by Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, on November 12th. He stated that the Russian air defense system had successfully downed a Ukrainian drone in the region. On November 13th, Roman Starovoyt, the governor of the Kursk region, reported that a Ukrainian UAV dropped an explosive device in the area of the Popovo-Lezhachi village, resulting in one person getting injured.
Furthermore, Gladkov reported on November 16th that Ukrainian forces had shelled the Belgorod region 36 times within a day, including the dropping of two explosive devices from unmanned aircraft. He specified that Ukrainian troops launched ten mortar shells in the Valuysky urban district near the Karabanovo village, and the outskirts of the Staroye village in the Volokonovsky district were targeted with 15 grenade launcher shots.
This recent development comes after Russia unveiled a new drone suppression system, further highlighting the escalating tensions in the region.
