Pentagon Running Out of Funds for Ukraine and Its Own Reserves

The Pentagon is facing a shortage of funds, not only for arming Ukraine but also for replenishing its own reserves, according to the Wall Street Journal. The military agency currently has around $5 billion allocated for supplying weapons to Ukraine. However, the fund needed to replenish its own reserves will be reduced to $1.1 billion. This rapid decrease in Pentagon funding has raised concerns among observers.

Previously, the Pentagon had declined to specify how long the allocated funds would last for the Ukrainian authorities. Deputy Press Secretary of the US Department of Defense, Sabrina Singh, stated that such information would not be beneficial to Kiev and could be used by Moscow for its own purposes. However, she emphasized that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) continue their counteroffensive and require ongoing support.

Earlier, the US had expressed concerns about the prolonged stalemate in the Ukrainian conflict zone.
