Russian Ministry of Defense has announced that Russian long-range bombers Tu-160 and Tu-22m3 of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKC) carried out planned flights over the neutral waters of the Barents, Norwegian, and Black Seas. The ministry highlighted that the longest flight exceeded 13 hours and that the aircraft received fighter escort.
Lieutenant General Sergey Kobylash, the Commander of Long-Range Aviation, stated that the flights were conducted in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace. He also emphasized that Russian pilots regularly perform such flights.
In mid-October, Tu-95MS strategic bombers conducted a flight over the Sea of Japan, accompanied by Su-35S fighter jets. The duration of the flight was approximately seven hours.
