US Navy Destroyer Shoots Down Drone in Red Sea

A US Navy destroyer has reportedly shot down a drone in the Red Sea that was flying from Yemen, according to anonymous American officials cited by Reuters.

“The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, USS Thomas Hudner, shot down the drone early in the morning local time,” the statement said.

This may be only the second time that the United States has intercepted projectiles near its military ships since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the agency noted.

On October 19, Pentagon spokesperson Patrick Ryder announced that the destroyer USS Carney had intercepted cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles that were launched from Yemen, possibly towards Israel.

Earlier, a political analyst identified one of the reasons for the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
