Fatal Crash in Long Beach Claims Pedestrian’s Life

Polk County deputies apprehended a couple accused of attempting to break into several cars and fleeing law enforcement at high speed until ultimately crashing into a parked vehicle in the Davenport area. In a tragic incident in Long Beach, California, a two-vehicle crash on the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The Long Beach Police Department responded to the scene around 5:50 p.m. on Monday.

According to reports, one of the cars involved in the crash was split in half. The crash claimed the life of 50-year-old Carlos Ceron, a Long Beach resident who was waiting for a bus at the time. He was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. Footage from the crash site showed significant damage, with a bus bench ripped from the ground.

It is unclear whether one of the drivers involved in the crash fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the incident. Preliminary findings suggest that a 20-year-old man driving a Nissan 350Z was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on the PCH. Meanwhile, a 50-year-old woman driving a Jeep Cherokee made a left turn in front of the Nissan, resulting in the collision.

The driver of the Nissan was immediately hospitalized, while the Jeep driver declined medical attention. Police have stated that speed was a factor in the crash, but there is no indication of impairment at this time.

The incident serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of following traffic laws. The community mourns the loss of Carlos Ceron and extends condolences to his loved ones.
