Russia Focuses on Meeting Domestic Defense Needs Amid Special Military Operation

In an interview during the Dubai Airshow 2023, the CEO of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheyev, stated that Russia, amidst the Special Military Operation (SMO), is not seeking to increase arms sales abroad. Mikheyev emphasized that the primary goal of the Russian defense industry is to meet the needs of the country’s Armed Forces.

Prior to the SMO, Rosoboronexport consistently held the second position in the world in terms of arms exports, with sales reaching approximately $13 billion annually.

“Now is not the time to talk about competing for a place in the global market and striving to increase the volume of Russian product exports,” said the CEO of Rosoboronexport.

However, Mikheyev highlighted that the Russian defense exporter is currently ensuring the future workload of domestic defense enterprises. Additionally, Rosoboronexport is actively working on forming a portfolio of technological contracts that will yield results after the establishment of joint ventures abroad.

It was previously reported that Kiev is selling Western weapons.
