Tragic Loss of Russian Military Officer in Ukraine Conflict Reported by Sevastopol Governor

Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev has announced the death of Lieutenant Colonel Yan Sukhanov, the chief of staff of the 810th Separate Marine Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet, in his Telegram channel.

According to the governor’s statement, Sukhanov was born in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and graduated with honors from the Far Eastern Higher Command School in 2002. He was subsequently assigned to Sevastopol, where he served his entire life.

“His comrades say that he was an honest, fair, and true officer with a capital ‘O’,” Razvozhaev said.

The governor clarified that Sukhanov served both in airborne assault units and in reconnaissance. Additionally, he had been on assignments in the Syrian Arab Republic and had received numerous awards, including the Order of Courage. Under Sukhanov’s leadership, the 810th Separate Marine Brigade participated in the battles for Mariupol and the Azovstal Plant.

According to Razvozhaev’s statement, Sukhanov was injured in Mariupol, and while receiving treatment at a hospital in Moscow, doctors diagnosed him with a “pernicious disease that prevented his body from recovering from the injuries.”

Prior to this, it was reported that Valentin Ushakov, the sound engineer of the TV series “Real Guys,” had died in the conflict zone. According to the “Region 12” public VKontakte page, Ushakov volunteered to participate in the military actions in September 2023, despite objections from his loved ones.

In October, news also emerged of the death of Russian short track speed skater Ivan Denisov in the special military operation zone.

Earlier, a car belonging to the former head of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic was exploded in Luhansk.
