Michigan Woman Arrested After Car Chase and Abandoning Puppy in Dumpster

A Michigan woman has been arrested after causing a traffic crash and abandoning a puppy in a construction dumpster while attempting to flee authorities. Selena Maria Martin, 25, was taken into custody by the Farmington Hills Police Department after driving on a suspended license, speeding, and refusing to stop for police. The incident occurred on November 8th.

Records obtained by Fox 2 Detroit reveal that Martin has previously been convicted of fleeing and eluding police on two separate occasions, with the most recent incidents occurring on August 5th and September 10th, 2021.

According to police officers, once Martin and a 14-year-old passenger were apprehended, Martin confessed to abandoning a puppy in a construction dumpster as it was “slowing their escape.” The police initiated a search for the puppy and were able to safely recover it, unharmed.

Fortunately, the puppy has found a new home with a member of the community who has chosen to remain anonymous. The Farmington Hills Police Department has not provided any further comments at this time.

It is important to note that no injuries were reported by the occupants of the vehicle that was hit by the suspects during the incident.
