GOP Senate Candidate Kari Lake Believes Trump’s Name on Ballot will Bring Success in 2024

GOP Senate candidate, Kari Lake, has offered a solution to her own party following recent election losses. In an exclusive interview with Digital, Lake expressed her belief that the Republican Party’s success at the polls in 2024 would come from voters showing up in droves for one major name on the ballot – former President Donald Trump. Lake argued that Trump’s presence on the ticket would bring out enthusiasm and support, putting the citizens of their states and the country first.

The interview took place shortly after Republicans lost a gubernatorial race in deep-red Kentucky and Democrats gained total control of the Virginia state legislature. Lake acknowledged that more campaigning could have been done to boost the candidates in these elections, but highlighted that Kentucky has historically been a tough state for Republicans to flip. Additionally, driving up voter enthusiasm in an off-election year posed its own challenges.

Some Republicans, including former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, attempted to blame former President Donald Trump for the losses. However, Lake pointed to the re-election victory of GOP Gov. Tate Reeves in Mississippi and the successful gubernatorial seat flip in Louisiana as evidence that Trump’s endorsement holds weight in certain races.

Lake also placed some blame on the Republican Governors Association (RGA) for not doing enough to secure victories in Kentucky. She criticized Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, who chairs the organization, for being distracted with her support for DeSantis’s presidential campaign.

In response to criticism that Republican abortion policy contributed to the losses, Lake emphasized the need to understand why women choose to have abortions. She suggested that the focus should be on helping women and families through tax breaks and “baby bonuses.” Lake cited Hungary’s success in reducing its abortion rate by empowering families and women through pro-family government policies.

The race for the Arizona Senate seat is expected to be closely watched in the 2024 election cycle. Kari Lake’s major opponent in the Republican primary is Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb.

Overall, Lake’s perspective offers insights into the GOP’s strategy for future elections and highlights the ongoing divisions within the party. The influence of Trump and the Republican Governors Association, as well as the approach to abortion policy, are central themes in this article.
