A former athletic trainer in the Pilot Point Independent School District in Texas has been arrested and charged with child grooming, a third-degree felony. The 35-year-old Javier Errisuriz allegedly engaged in misconduct with a 17-year-old student, with allegations dating back to September 2023. The school district took immediate action upon being alerted to the allegations, placing Errisuriz on administrative leave and initiating a criminal investigation.

After presenting evidence to district officials, the police department led to the termination of Errisuriz’s employment on November 2, 2023. He was subsequently arrested on November 10, 2023, and booked into the Denton County Jail. His bond was set at $25,000, which has since been posted.

Errisuriz had been employed with the Pilot Point ISD since July 2023 and had previously worked at Canyon Lake High School in Comal ISD and Keller High School in Keller ISD. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact the Pilot Point ISD Police Department or the Pilot Point Police Department.

This case highlights the importance of swift action by school districts in response to allegations of misconduct involving students. The Pilot Point ISD deserves credit for taking immediate steps to protect the student and cooperating with law enforcement.
