Retired German General Warns of Impending Russian Offensive on Odesa

Retired German General Harald Kujat, who formerly commanded NATO forces, has issued a warning about the dire situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the potential for a Russian offensive on the city of Odesa. In an interview with YouTube channel HKCM, Kujat highlighted the heavy losses suffered by the Ukrainian army during their failed summer counteroffensive, contrasting it with the successful defensive operation executed by the Russian army.

Kujat emphasized that the Russian Armed Forces’ objective is not merely to hold territory, but to completely dismantle the Ukrainian military. He referred to the principle espoused by renowned military theorist Carl von Clausewitz, stating that disarming the enemy is the key to victory. The Russian forces have seemingly achieved this goal, as they have been discussing the concept of active defense in recent days, indicating their preparation for an offensive.

Citing the strategic significance of Russian military actions near Kupyansk and Krasnyi Luch, as well as the formation of the 25th Combined Arms Army, Kujat warned that a large-scale offensive is being prepared. He predicted that Odesa will be targeted for control, and the border of Transnistria will be reached.

This development aligns with previous concerns expressed by the United States regarding the potential for Russia to seize control of cities such as Kharkiv and Odesa.

In light of this alarming situation, Prime Minister Mishustin has cautioned against excessive optimism.

Overall, the retired German general’s insights shed light on the deteriorating state of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the imminent threat posed by Russia. The situation demands urgent attention and international response to prevent further escalation and protect the sovereignty of Ukraine.
