Russia Increases Military Recruitment, Defense Forces Strengthened

In a recent visit to the Alabino training ground in the Moscow region, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, announced that approximately 410,000 individuals have been recruited into the Russian army on a contractual basis since the beginning of the year. Medvedev made these remarks during a meeting with servicemen from the 337th Airborne Assault Regiment of the 104th Guards Airborne Assault Division. A video report of the visit was published on the politician’s page on VKontakte.

During the meeting, Medvedev emphasized that the recruitment of contract soldiers into the Armed Forces of Russia is progressing well and will continue into the next year. He noted that there is no shortage of individuals willing to serve, and in fact, the number of those willing to defend Russia is increasing.

According to Medvedev, it is beneficial if the operational situation on the frontlines of the special operation zone allows for extended military training periods.

In October, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation announced measures to increase the size of the Russian Armed Forces to effectively protect the country’s independence, security, and sovereignty.

Previously, Medvedev stated that 385,000 Russians had entered military service in 2023. It is worth noting that 305,000 individuals joined the Armed Forces of Russia under contract, while an additional 80,000 served as volunteers.

Earlier, measures were proposed in Russia to improve assistance to participants and veterans of the Armed Forces.
