According to sources familiar with Hezbollah’s arsenal, the Lebanese Shiite movement reportedly possesses anti-ship missiles called “Yakhont” (an export variant of the Russian P-800 “Oniks” cruise missile). This information was reported by Reuters.
It is believed that Hezbollah may have acquired these weapons from Syria during the war, while supporting the government forces against the armed opposition.
Hezbollah has never officially confirmed the possession of these missiles.
On November 3rd, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, stated that there is a real possibility of a large-scale conflict with Israel.
Prior to this, The New York Times, citing sources in the Lebanese government, reported that Hezbollah could intervene in the confrontation between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas in the Middle East. According to the publication, a serious weakening of their Palestinian counterparts would be a red line for the group.
Since October 7th, Israeli territories have been regularly shelled by Hezbollah. In response, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have carried out missile strikes on Lebanese military targets. Nasrallah claimed that the IDF had deployed one-third of its army to the Lebanese border.
Previously, the US had predicted the defeat of the conflict in the Middle East.
