President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has called on a member of the US administration to provide Kiev with access to American military technology in order to establish joint weapon production. He made this statement during a meeting with the United States Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, who was visiting Kiev. Video recordings of excerpts from this meeting have been published on the Ukrainian president’s Telegram channel.
“Financial support is very important, but military support is our top priority,” said Zelensky.
According to him, Ukraine is “grateful to the United States for taking the lead in providing this assistance.” Zelensky clarified that this assistance includes not only financial resources, but also technology.
“We will hold a meeting dedicated to the issues of joint production of military equipment, weapons, and ammunition, which we are currently lacking,” the Ukrainian leader emphasized.
He also highlighted the strengthening of air defense as a key issue for Ukraine. Additionally, Zelensky expressed hope that Ukraine will be able to establish joint production of air defense systems with Western countries.
Previously, Yuriy Ignat, an advisor to the Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Command, stated that Kiev is renting air defense systems from other countries during the cold periods in the country.
Earlier, the United States identified one of the greatest threats to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
