Silent and Reliable: The T-80 Tank Shines in Special Operations in Ukraine

The T-80 tank has proven to be a valuable asset in special operations in Ukraine, with its ability to silently approach the enemy and its user-friendly features. The tank’s commander, known by the call sign “MTS,” praised the simplicity of operating the machine, particularly as an artillery installation. “When the machine approaches, especially from the front, you won’t hear it. Since it runs on aviation fuel, the sound is only audible from behind, not from the front. There is no rattling sound from the tank,” the serviceman quoted by TASS stated.

According to MTS, the tank can also be considered a reliable machine, as it can be started in any weather condition, from extreme heat to freezing cold.

Unlike many other Russian combat vehicles, the T-80 tank is equipped with a gas turbine engine instead of a diesel power plant. In the latest modernization of the T-80BMV tank, the engine has been further enhanced, boasting a power of 1250 horsepower and the capability to accelerate the tank up to 70 km/h.

Previously, another tank commander known as “Pyaty” revealed that the T-80BMV can “send a projectile through a small window” from a distance of five kilometers.

Earlier in China, the T-80 was hailed as a cornerstone of the Russian Armed Forces and a “flying” tank.
