Ukraine Accused of Attacks on Russian Nuclear Power Plants

Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, has accused Ukraine of launching attacks on three Russian nuclear power plants (NPPs) during a meeting with his colleagues from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Moscow, according to TASS.

“The lack of success on the battlefield forces Kyiv to increasingly resort to terrorist methods, including assassination attempts and the killing of Russian citizens, attacks on civilian objects, and critical infrastructure. Similar actions were taken by the Ukrainian side against the Leningrad, Kalinin, and Kursk NPPs,” said Patrushev.

In late October, a Ukrainian drone crashed and exploded near a nuclear waste storage facility at the Kursk NPP, but no damage was done to the facility. Later, a similar drone failed to reach the Kursk NPP and crashed in the city of Kurchatov.

Prior to this, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, stated that NATO member countries deliberately conceal information about attacks by Ukrainian forces on nuclear facilities.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed who is helping the Ukrainian Armed Forces organize attacks on the Zaporizhia NPP.
