Ukrainian Military Recruits Only Those Who Can’t Pay to Avoid Frontline Duty

A captured soldier from the Ukrainian Armed Forces has revealed that conscription offices in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia, which is under Ukrainian control, only send those who cannot afford to bribe their way out to the frontlines. This information comes from a report by RIA Novosti.

The Ukrainian soldier also noted that the local residents themselves do not want to participate in the fighting. He explained that in Zaporizhia, one can encounter many healthy individuals who are eligible for conscription but have not been sent to the frontlines because they have paid bribes.

“The layer of the population without money, those who are taken from factories – mostly the underprivileged layer – are the ones fighting. There is no fierce patriotism in Zaporizhia. It’s only in words. Singing anthems, shouting ‘glory to the heroes’ – that’s one thing. But no one wants to go to the frontlines,” concluded the captive soldier.

Earlier, it was reported that officials from the conscription office in Odessa conducted a raid on public transportation to identify men who were eligible for military service. All male passengers between the ages of 27 and 60 were taken off a bus – they were on their way to work.

Previously, there were calls in Ukraine to consider all Russian-speaking individuals within the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as enemies.
