Israel Refuses Humanitarian Pause in Gaza Until Hostages Are Released

Israel’s Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, has stated that Israel will not agree to a humanitarian pause in the Gaza Strip until all hostages are released. Galant made this announcement amidst increasing calls for a ceasefire, emphasizing that, for him, a humanitarian pause primarily means the release of Israeli hostages, including women, children, and the elderly. He firmly stated that there will be no humanitarian pause without the return of the hostages.

On November 7th, Galant declared that it is currently impossible to implement humanitarian pauses in the Gaza Strip, referring to the Palestinian enclave as the world’s largest terrorist base. He asserted that a temporary cessation of fire would only occur after the release of the 240 hostages held by Hamas.

Previously, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed the possibility of a tactical ceasefire by Israeli military forces in the Gaza Strip for humanitarian purposes.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who was in Baghdad at the time, revealed that American and Israeli officials were engaged in consultations regarding practical matters concerning potential humanitarian pauses during military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, a political analyst identified one of the reasons for the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
