Over the past 24 hours, Russian armed forces have carried out active operations in the southern Donetsk region, according to a report by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The report states that units of the “Vostok” task force, along with aviation and artillery support, successfully engaged and inflicted heavy casualties on the 72nd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the 128th Territorial Defense Brigade. The clashes took place in the vicinity of the towns of Ugleadar and Staromayorsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
“The enemy’s losses amounted to about 70 servicemen, a tank, two armored combat vehicles, and a self-propelled artillery system called ‘Gvozdika’,” the Russian Ministry of Defense stated.
In other areas of the conflict, Ukrainian Su-27 and MiG-29 aircraft were shot down by Russian air defense forces, two HIMARS rocket projectiles were intercepted, and 33 drones were destroyed.
On the Krasnolimansk front, a Russian kamikaze drone successfully destroyed an artillery piece (howitzer) of American origin. The Russian Ministry of Defense released footage of the destruction.
Earlier reports indicated that officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces expressed doubt about the possibility of a breakthrough on the frontlines.
