Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has held talks on military cooperation with Nicaragua’s Chief of Staff Julio Aviles Castillo. The meeting took place at the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation, as reported by the Ministry of Defense’s Telegram channel.
The discussions focused on “prospective projects in the military and military-technical fields.” It is noted that both sides have reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further enhancing comprehensive interaction between their defense departments. Additionally, Shoigu stated that Russia and Nicaragua maintain a unified position on key global and regional security matters.
During the meeting, the representative of the Latin American country stated, “Ukraine is fighting against Russia on behalf of NATO and is trying to undermine the security of the Russian Federation. They are attempting to destabilize and provoke a war.”
Earlier, Nicaraguan authorities had stated that the expansion of BRICS creates conditions for building a better world.
Previously, Shoigu had shared information about Russia’s military exercises in Ukraine.
