Ukrainian Military Chief’s Statements Could Jeopardize US Support for Ukraine

In a recent development that has raised concerns within President Joe Biden’s administration, the statements made by Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny about the stalemate in the country’s conflict may hinder further support from Washington. This information has been reported by the New York Times.

According to the publication, President Biden’s aides are worried that General Zaluzhny’s remarks could make it difficult to convince Republicans to vote in favor of continuing the funding for military operations.

“The phrase that Zaluzhny used last week is one that American officials have carefully avoided for most of the year: a stalemate,” explained the NYT.

The media has noted that the US administration is struggling to formulate its next steps regarding aid to Ukraine, particularly as Washington’s uncertainty has been influenced by the lack of progress following the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ offensive.

“General Zaluzhny stated that significant technological progress in weaponry will be needed to break the stalemate,” the article emphasizes.

Prior to this, Ivan Meziukho, Chairman of the Crimean Regional Public Organization “Center for Political Enlightenment,” had reported that Zaluzhny has real chances of taking over Zelensky’s position.

Earlier, a Gallup poll showed that Zelensky has surpassed both Trump and Biden in popularity in the United States.
