Violent Clash Erupts in Ukraine Over Russian Song

A brawl broke out between Ukrainian army soldiers and members of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the city of Vinnytsia over the playing of a song by Russian musician Mikhail Krug, titled “Vladimirskiy Tsentral.” Local news portals reported on the incident.

The altercation took place at the “Artal” restaurant, where two groups were celebrating. The dissatisfaction stemmed from the Krug song being played in the VIP lounge, which prompted a woman from the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) group to approach the SBU members with a complaint.

“I voiced my concern (…). They didn’t react. I went to the bar and asked the girls why they were not responding to the fact that Russian chanson music was playing in their establishment – they just laughed. After that, men from their group came out, and a fight ensued,” the woman said.

Three UAF soldiers were injured during the brawl and had to be taken away in an ambulance. As a result of the altercation, a criminal case was initiated for hooliganism.

This incident follows a recent court appearance of a 17-year-old teenager in Ukraine for performing songs by Viktor Tsoi.

Earlier in the Kyiv region, a similar fight broke out over a song in the Russian language.
