In a related development, the Department of Justice has announced the arrest of Jeffrey Mindock, a 47-year-old man from Tempe, Arizona, for sending a threatening email to a local Rabbi. The email, which was sent on November 3, 2023, expressed Mindock’s desire to execute the Rabbi and “every other JEW [sic]” he could find on the Sabbath at midnight. The email also contained a request for the Rabbi to intervene in a court case in Utah.
Federal officials, including the FBI, swiftly acted upon receiving the complaint and arrest warrant, leading to Mindock’s arrest on Saturday morning. United States Attorney Gary Restaino emphasized that such threatening communications against religious leaders or any individual in America will not be tolerated. The complaint against Mindock reveals that his address matches the one listed in the email, as per the motor vehicle records. Additionally, it highlights Mindock’s history of threatening behavior, including previous email threats and a threat made during a court appearance in 2021.
