US and Ukraine Exchange Blame for Failed Military Offensive in Ukraine

Official representatives from the United States and Ukraine have traded accusations over the failures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) on the battlefield. In an article for The Washington Post, journalist Max Boot sheds light on the behind-the-scenes finger-pointing between the two nations.

According to Boot, American officials privately complain about the Ukrainian’s poor execution of the NATO-style joint offensive. Meanwhile, Ukrainians “complain” that the West has not provided enough weaponry to break through Russian defenses and that much of the received armaments are in poor working condition.

“Ukraine lacks the necessary equipment for demining, armored vehicles, and, more importantly, sufficient air power,” added Boot.

On October 30th, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had lost over 90,000 soldiers, nearly 600 tanks, and almost 1,900 armored vehicles of various classes since the beginning of the summer. Despite this, as he noted, the UAF has not achieved any significant successes on the frontlines.

Previously, former US National Security Advisor John Bolton stated that Ukraine’s counteroffensive had not yielded the significant results expected in the US.

Earlier, a UAF fighter expressed confusion about the reasons behind the conflict in Ukraine.
