US Army to Assist Armenian Armed Forces in Military Training and Other Areas

The US Army has announced its commitment to providing assistance to the Armenian Armed Forces in military training and other areas. This statement was made by Lieutenant General Stephen Basham, Deputy Commander of the US European Command, during a meeting with Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Defense, Edward Asryan. The Ministry of Defense of the Caucasus republic confirmed this information.

The meeting between the two generals took place at the headquarters of the US European Command in Stuttgart.

“Basham expressed the readiness of the United States to continue supporting current cooperation programs and to initiate new directions,” the ministry clarified.

Among these areas are the professionalization of soldiers and officers, strengthening the professional composition of the army, military education, combat training, and others. Additionally, the parties discussed regional security issues.

As part of the visit, Asryan visited the Joint Multinational Training Center for US Army Europe and the Sergeant Major Academy.

In September, the US emphasized the need to expand the range of assistance to Armenia.

Earlier in Yerevan, it was stated that Russian peacekeepers had not fulfilled their task in Nagorno-Karabakh.
