Russian airborne troops from the Novorossiysk Guard Mountain Division successfully eliminated Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) soldiers who were attempting to hold a defensive position in the Verbov and Rabotino areas of Zaporizhia region, according to reports from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The Ministry stated that the UAF fighters were trying to hold their ground after a failed attempt to attack Russian military positions.
Initially, the defensive position came under artillery fire. Subsequently, the Russian airborne scouts approached the position covertly, where the Ukrainian soldiers were taking cover, and launched attacks from multiple directions against the UAF fighters. Afterward, they cleared the occupied stronghold. As a result, the airborne troops secured the position formerly held by the UAF, also seizing trophies in the form of Western-made firearms and ammunition.
On November 5th, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Sergey Shoygu, congratulated the military scouts on their professional holiday, noting their effective actions during the special military operation in Ukraine.
Prior to this incident, a scout from the First Guards Tank Army of the Western Group of Russian Forces stated that the Ukrainian command was using ordinary UAF personnel as bait to identify Russian snipers.
Earlier, a UAF soldier expressed his lack of understanding regarding the reasons behind the conflict in Ukraine.
