The military wing of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas has announced that 60 Israeli captives held in Gaza have died as a result of Israeli army strikes in the region. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, citing statements from representatives of the movement.
“Since October 7th, Zionist bombings in Gaza have led to the death of over 60 enemy prisoners. After search operations, the bodies of 23 of them are still under the rubble. It seems that we will not be able to reach them due to the ongoing horrific aggression against Gaza,” said Hamas.
According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), there are currently up to 240 Israeli and foreign captives being held in the Gaza sector.
Prior to this, the Palestinian movement Hamas had agreed to evacuate the injured from the Gaza sector through the Rafah checkpoint, located on the border with Egypt, in exchange for the evacuation of foreigners from the Palestinian enclave. However, the agreement fell through.
Earlier, Hamas stated that it would release the foreign hostages “when circumstances permit.”
