The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have reported that the Palestinian movement Hamas has launched an attack on Israeli soldiers who were establishing a humanitarian route for the evacuation of Gaza residents. The incident occurred as IDF forces were attempting to open the Salah al-Din route.
According to the IDF, a representative in the Arabic language announced that the Salah al-Din route in the Gaza sector would be accessible as a humanitarian route for the residents of the northern part of the sector who had not yet relocated to the south for evacuation, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
“Hamas, a terrorist organization, took advantage of the humanitarian window provided by the IDF for the residents of the Gaza sector to move south, and the terrorists fired mortar shells and anti-tank missiles at the IDF troops who arrived and acted to open the passage,” the IDF stated.
Furthermore, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated today that it is the Israeli strikes on the Gaza sector that are hindering the process of freeing the hostages held by Hamas.
Earlier, Hamas declared that it would release foreign hostages “when circumstances allow.”
