Chaotic footage captured on Tuesday shows a nude man engaging in a struggle with a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer before managing to escape in the officer’s police cruiser. The incident unfolded when Clyde Cabulisan, 29, slipped out of the officer’s grasp and led police on a 15-minute, five-mile chase in the stolen Metro Ford F-150. The chase came to an end when Cabulisan ran a red light and collided with another vehicle.
Cabulisan now faces multiple charges, including robbery, disobeying a peace officer, endangering people and property, and battery on a protected person. He also faces charges for reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving under the influence. Notably, no charges have been filed for indecent exposure. According to Clark County Detention Center online records, Cabulisan’s brother informed the police that he had a “mental breakdown.”
Video footage of the incident was captured by a nearby driver, Kyle Even, who initially thought he was approaching an accident scene due to the flashing lights. Instead, he witnessed the nude man walking along the highway. Even described the officer’s attempts to protect Cabulisan and capture him. He recorded the incident and expressed his surprise as Cabulisan managed to get into the officer’s marked Ford F-150.
During the struggle, Cabulisan knocked off the officer’s hat and forced him to the ground. Even expressed relief that the officer did not get run over and compared the situation to the popular video game “Grand Theft Auto.” Police pursued Cabulisan, who drove down South Rainbow Road, crossed the road median, and ran a red light into oncoming traffic, ultimately crashing into another vehicle.
The occupants of the other vehicle, a 34-year-old woman and her 43-year-old male passenger, suffered critical injuries and were transported to the University Medical Center’s Trauma Unit. Cabulisan, who also sustained injuries, was initially booked at the police headquarters before being taken to the hospital. It remains unclear whether he has entered a plea in court.
The incident has captured attention due to its unusual and chaotic nature. The video footage has been widely shared online, with many expressing astonishment at the events that unfolded. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is conducting an investigation into the incident.
