The ambassador of Bahrain in Israel has returned to his homeland, according to the Arab state’s news agency BNA. In response, the ambassador of Israel in Bahrain has also left the kingdom.
This comes after Bahrain announced the recall of its ambassador from Israel and the severing of economic ties with the Jewish state as a sign of support for the Palestinian people amidst Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip, as reported by Manama.
However, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in an official statement that diplomats had not received any notifications from Bahrain authorities regarding the recall of ambassadors. According to a source from The Times of Israel, the relations between the two states remain stable for now.
The Bahraini Parliament had previously announced the recall of its ambassador from Israel and the cessation of economic relations with West Jerusalem in disagreement with the actions of the Israeli Defense Forces in the Gaza Strip. Jordan, Colombia, and Chile have also recalled their ambassadors from Israel, while Bolivia has completely severed diplomatic relations with West Jerusalem.
