Chinese Fighter Jets Cross Taiwan Strait, Heightening Tensions

In a recent announcement on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Ministry of Defense of Taiwan revealed that 20 Chinese air force planes crossed the middle line of the Taiwan Strait on Thursday.

According to the Ministry of Defense, on November 2nd at 16:50 (11:50 GMT), People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) aircraft were detected, with 20 of them crossing the middle line and entering the Central, Northern, and Southwest Air Defense Identification Zones.

During the opening ceremony of the 10th Xiangshan Forum on Security held on October 30th, General Colonel Zhang Yuxia, the Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China, stated that the PLAAF would never allow Taiwan to separate from China.

Earlier, Gan Yui, the official spokesperson for the China Coast Guard, called on Tokyo to refrain from allowing vessels into the disputed waters around the Diaoyu Islands in the South China Sea.

This comes in the wake of previous concerns raised in China regarding U.S. military supplies to Taiwan.
