American actress, former goodwill ambassador, and former UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie has criticized Israel’s strikes on the civilian population in the Gaza Strip. She expressed her concerns in a post on her Instagram account (note: the owner of Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has been designated extremist and banned in Russia).
According to Jolie, world leaders who did not support a ceasefire in the UN Security Council are also complicit in Israel’s “crimes.” She referred to the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip as a “deliberate bombardment of a trapped population with nowhere to escape.”
The actress emphasized that 40% of the victims are children, and entire families are being killed in the bombings. Meanwhile, the civilian population lacks access to medication, humanitarian aid, and food.
Prior to this, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released new information stating that on October 7th, over three thousand Hamas militants infiltrated Israel. The IDF noted that a third of this number was eliminated within the first two days of the infiltration.
Earlier, Hollywood actors wrote a letter to President Biden, urging him to halt the violence in Israel and Gaza.
