Questions Arise About US Weapons Ending Up on the Black Market in the Middle East, Russia Demands Answers

The Russian Federation Security Council has raised concerns about the United States and other Western countries supplying weapons to Ukraine and Afghanistan, which have ended up on the black market in the Middle East. Alexander Venediktov, the deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council, made this statement in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“There are indeed many questions for the United States and several EU countries about how the weapons they supplied to Afghanistan or Ukraine ended up on the black market, which we clearly see in the case of the Middle East,” said the Russian representative.

Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a press conference after his visit to Kyrgyzstan for the CIS summit, stated that weapons from Ukraine may have found their way to the Middle East through the black market.

According to the head of state, he doubts the origin of the weapons from Ukraine but is certain that there is a leakage of weapons from the country. Putin pointed out the high level of corruption in Ukraine, stating that the black market is formed in such a way that there are many buyers interested in purchasing weapons and many sellers in Ukraine.

Putin also noted that “everything that can be sold is being sold.” He expressed doubts that such decisions are made at the leadership level of the country.

Speaking about the escalation of the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Russian president emphasized that Israel has faced an unprecedented attack and is responding on a large scale and “with quite harsh methods” as well.

Earlier, Nebenzia assessed the normalization of relations between Israel and Arab countries at the expense of Palestine.
