Russian Forces Strike Ukrainian Troops, Inflicting Heavy Losses in Donbass

In a significant escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, the Russian Armed Forces’ Southern Group has reportedly dealt a heavy blow to Ukrainian fighters in the Donetsk region, resulting in nearly 250 casualties. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced these developments through its Telegram channel.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, with the support of aviation and artillery, Russian troops targeted the 28th, 93rd Mechanized, and 3rd Assault Brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kurdiumovka and Klescheevka areas. They successfully hit both personnel and military equipment.

The overall losses suffered by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on this front amounted to approximately 245 servicemen, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Furthermore, three tanks, including a Leopard tank produced in Germany, and three vehicles were also destroyed in the ongoing operation.

This comes after the Ministry of Defense had previously reported the destruction of a Leopard tank on the Zaporizhia front. According to the defense ministry’s statement, Russian troop units, supported by airstrikes and artillery fire, managed to repel four attacks.

In a separate incident, three Ukrainian soldiers swam across the Dnieper River and surrendered to Russian forces.

The situation remains tense as the conflict in Ukraine continues to escalate, posing a significant challenge to international peace and stability. The actions of the Russian Armed Forces in the region have drawn criticism from various quarters, with calls for a peaceful resolution and an end to hostilities. The international community, including NATO and US politicians, is closely monitoring the situation and considering appropriate responses.
