The head of Israel’s National Security Council (NSC), Tsahi Hanegbi, has stated that the military operation in the Gaza Strip will be challenging and will involve intense battles. Hanegbi made these remarks during a press conference, emphasizing Israel’s determination to emerge victorious despite the difficulties.
The NSC leader highlighted that the objectives of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in this campaign are clear. The operation aims to eliminate the military and leadership capabilities of the Palestinian radical organizations Hamas and Islamic Jihad (a group banned in Russia). Israel seeks to ensure that there will no longer be any threats emanating from Gaza towards its citizens.
Since the decision to launch the operation, the IDF has been diligently carrying out its assigned tasks in several stages.
Hanegbi also stated that the army’s actions have an additional and overarching goal, which is to create conditions for the safe return of hostages to their homes and families.
On October 31st, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, strongly condemned the Israeli attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank.
Previously, UN Secretary-General António Guterres had cited Hamas’ attack on Israel as the cause for the escalation of violence.
