Israeli Military Conducts Operation in Gaza, Eliminating Hamas Commander

In a recent operation in the Jabalia sector of Gaza, the Israeli military successfully targeted and eliminated a high-ranking commander of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. While reports of casualties among civilians have emerged, they have yet to be confirmed. This information was shared by Jonathan Cornicus, spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), according to TASS.

Cornicus stated, “I understand that there are reports of civilian casualties, but they have not been confirmed yet.”

The main objective of the strike was to target an underground complex where Ibrahim Biari, a commander of one of Hamas’ combat units, was hiding. According to the IDF, Biari played a significant role in planning the attack on Israel on October 7th. The army’s press service confirmed his elimination.

Prior to this, Richard Hecht, representative of the IDF, confirmed the strike on the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza sector, referring to the incident as a tragedy of war.

On October 7th, Hamas forces launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory and announced the start of the “Flood of Al-Aqsa” operation. Thousands of militants infiltrated Israeli territory, seizing dozens of military vehicles and over a hundred hostages. Against this backdrop, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country was in a state of war.

The Israeli Defense Forces’ counter-operation, named “Iron Swords,” aimed at destroying Hamas. Israeli Air Force conducted strikes on hundreds of militant targets in the Gaza sector, while the National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the enclave.

Earlier, Russia speculated on the possible timeline for the conclusion of the Israeli-Hamas conflict.
