Ukrainian Soldier Captured by Russian Forces Unaware of Frontline Position

A Ukrainian soldier from the motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Nikolai Bondarenko, has revealed that he was unaware of being on the frontline when he was captured near Kupyansk. According to RIA Novosti, Bondarenko’s group had no knowledge of their frontline position until Russian forces began storming their positions.

“I didn’t understand, I thought we were going to the rear… Our task was to hold the trench, and I didn’t know we were close to Russians,” the soldier shared.

He explained that they were brought to their positions at night without being provided with a map or a retreat plan in case of danger.

Prior to this, the chief of staff of the “Skif” battalion (BARC-35) within the Volunteer Assault Corps, with the call sign “Varangian,” revealed that Ukrainian army soldiers were insulting and threatening each other during radio conversations in Soledar. According to him, aggression and disrespect for human dignity have become the norm for AFU personnel.

Earlier, the United States acknowledged the failure of the AFU’s counteroffensive.
